All non-athletes are required to complete an Athlete Protection Training course before registering for 2012.
Effective Sept. 1, 2010, all clubs are required to conduct a pre-employment screening for all new employees and must certify this has been completed on the club registration form.
A coach must present evidence of having completed and passed the following courses and maintain a current certifications: CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
Before registering for the second year, a coach must successfully complete the Foundations of Coaching test. This test includes basic swimming coaching knowledge as well as the rules and regulations of USA Swimming.
